Mountain Brews News

Brusin' Ales Beer Tasting tonight, July 16, from 5PM - 7PM.
What we're sampling from Fullsteam Brewery:
Carver Sweet Potato Beer
: Local North Carolina sweet potatoes account for nearly one-third of the total fermentables in this surprisingly refreshing amber ale. This is NOT your grandma's sweet potato casserole - there are no pie spices in this beer!
Rocket Science IPA
: A more modest IPA than some of the more "West Coast" versions now out there. Though the hop profile is subdued, Rocket Science remains an American- and not an English-style IPA.
Summer Basil Farmhouse Ale
: The very first batch of beer we brewed on our 15-barrel brewhouse. It's a rustic farmhouse beer finished with a healthy dose of Coon Rock Farm basil. Like the sweet potato beer, don't anticipate being hit over the head with basil.

Hops and Vines free beer tasting tonight, July 16th, 5PM-7PM
Olde Hickory Brewing Co. samplings:
Ruby Lager A deep amber hue invokes a refreshing taste in this smooth brew. Slightly nutty, Ruby Lager has a dry finish, leaving one with a satisfying, warm glow, reminiscent of Ruby’s color.
Table Rock Pale Ale is brewed using the finest two row barley malts, with generous amounts of crystal and caramel malts yielding a deep copper color and rich malt body. Table Rock is dominated by American Cascade hops, averaging a whopping 3 grams of hops per pint!
Hickory Stick Stout is a whole- lot-a beer full of malt. English pale and crystal malts start this beer quickly followed by big time chocolate and black patent malts. Tons of Cascade hops go into Hickory Stick Stout to round out the malt character. Hickory Stick Stout is a very robust stout, bursting with flavor!

2010 Baseball & Beers: The 2nd Annual Baseball & Beers Festival will take place August 7, 2010 from 4:00-8:00 pm at McCormick Field.
There will be over 40 different craft beers, including several from the Asheville Brewers Alliance. Admission gets you your very own souvenir beer stein, which you can take and sample all of the beer you want. The concession stands will also be open, and patrons are invited to sit in the seating bowl in addition to gathering on the concourse. Live music will also be playing throughout the festival.
