Tailgate and Farmers Markets have sprouted up throughout the mountains. No longer relagated to the back of a pick-up or an out-of-the-way street corner today's markets are in easily accessible urban areas where everyone can find the healthful fruits and veggies "city folks" are re-discovering.
Dozens of markets in virtually every mountain town  offer local produce, foods, handmade products and crafts from area artisans. Most markets are open one day per week for 3 to 6 hours.ASHEVILLE AREA:
