Local fisherman shows off whopper of a bass caught on French Broad

News from RiverLink - no "Fisherman's Tale
The French Broad River has long been known as a "world-class fishery" for smallmouth bass. The fishing reports show the great number if fish caught, but this picture of "Joel" from Asheville shows just how big they really are! Chris Manderson, a smallmouth bass fishing guide, describes the fish and the event thusly:
"I don't usually send you glory shots w/o a report, but this is a special fish: a really big one Joel from Asheville caught on Wednesday afternoon. When looking at the image keep in mind joel is 6' 6"...so the fish is a tad dwarfed by the large man. He caught it on the afternoon float, and it was the actual LAST cast of the day, as I was backing us into the takeout. He thought he was hung-up at first, until the fish swirled. Bigger than I have caught myself in years." Call Chris Manderson (828) 216-1336 or visit www.whitewatersportsman.com for more info on fishing the FBR.
