May 21, 9 AM - Join the Foothills Conservancy on a joint paddle trip with the Rutherford Outdoor Coalition (ROC). The trip will be approximately 7 river miles and should take about 3-4 hours. The paddle trip starts at Rivercreek Campground and continues to River Road. This stretch of river is mostly Class I water with several short, fun rapids. It is a beautiful stretch with almost no visible development on the river and travels past Foothills Conservancy's River Bend Preserve.
Meeting Time: 9am at the campground which is located off Rock Springs Church Rd. near the intersection with US 64/74-A about 12 miles west of Rutherfordton towards Lake Lure. Use 217 River Creek Drive, Lake Lure, NC to Google directions. Bring your own canoe or kayak.
The Conservancy thanks Rivercreek Campground for allowing the use their put-in. They have RV and tent campsites available and a store on site if you need to stock up on snacks before the trip.
