August 4-5 Lake Logan Multisport Festival This
multisport event has become one of the most popular race weekends in the
Southeast. It attracts elite and regular triathletes from across the U.S. for
the international distance triathlon, now in its 7th year, on Saturday and the sprint triathlon and
aquathon (swim/run) on Sunday.
The cooler mountain temperatures add to the popularity of the event for
those tired of the heat and humidity of the southern summer. Lake Logan may be the most beautiful triathlon venue in
the country. The swim in this pristine mountain lake has a unique course
starting near the main docks but finishing under the highway bridge in the mouth
of the river. The bike course is unusual for the mountains in that it is mostly
flat and very fast.
Lake Logan is located in Canton NC, in between Asheville and Waynesville.
