Community Garden in Hickory Nut Gorge
The Friends of Hickory Nut Gorge opened a community garden across the street and just a couple hundred yards west from the Chimney Rock Park entrance. The garden is open to area residents and plots are affordable at $30 for a 30x10-ft. plot and $20 for a 20x10-ft. plot. Several of Chimney Rock's associates have banded together to cultivate a plot. The garden is currently growing tomatoes, cucumbers, zucchini, yellow squash, sweet and hot peppers, beets and cabbage. A percentage of each plot will be donated to area charities to provide fresh produce to families in need..
