October 15 - Birds of Prey Program with Doris Mager. Mager, also known as the “Eagle Lady”,
has been working with raptors for over 35 years. She will bring four birds with her, including an
American Kestrel, a Screech Owl, and a Great Horned Owl, allowing the public to “get up close
and personal” with these fascinating creatures. October 17, 5:00-6:30 p.m., Park staff and volunteers will provide a variety of cultural demonstrations and storytelling during “An Evening on the Farm” in the midst of the Mountain Farm Museum’s century-old buildings for a look at life in the past

October 21 - Nature walk at Tessentee Bottomland Preserve with Jason Love. November 5 - Annual Fall Celebration there with exciting activities all day including a cross-cut saw demonstration, fly fishing demonstrations along with live music and food.

On Saturday, Oct. 8 from 2-6 pm, The Cottage Craftsman in Bryson City will host Jasper, GA author, Jean A. Curran for a signing of her book In My Dreams I Ride Wild Horses, the biography of Folk Artist, Billy Roper. Billy Roper has said "I was born blessedly poor." His Story as told by Jean Curran, who is his friend, neighbor and advocate, is beautiful and stirring. The book signing will be held in conjuction with a tasting of North Carolina Wines. Each child will also get one handmade mug made by Elise the potter to decorate with a face! Starting October 7 and running every Thursday, Friday and Saturday in October at 7 pm, join the Storyteller Tim Hall on a wagon ride and hear tales of ghosts and gouls. The rides will run every 30 minutes, boarding at the corner of Whittier School Road and Whittier Depot Street in downtown Whittier. Click here for a printable flyer.
