March is a wonderful beginning to spring in the mountains as nature renews itself. Sharp-lobed hepatica, bloodroot, spring beauty, trout lily, early meadow rue and jack-in-pulpit start to bloom in the milder weather. Redbud and serviceberry trees line Little River Road with their cheery colors. The Louisiana waterthrush, black and white warblers, and the black-throated green warblers return to the park Park while elk shed their antlers.
