Historic Engine #12 runs this weekend at Blowing Rock

A part of the East Tennessee and Western North Carolina Railroad between Johnson City TN and Cranberry NC "Tweetsie" is the last surviving engine from the ET & WNC line. Tweetsie, now listed on the National Historic Registry, got her nickname from the sound the whistle made as it echoed off the mountains.

Tweetsie Railroad in Blowing Rock NC has been providing good old-fashioned family fun for 50 years. In addition to a memorable train ride the attraction offers "old West" skits and characters, the Tweetsie Jail on Main Street, the Arcade and Shooting Gallery or the Games and rides in the Country Fair on Miner's Mountain,  the Deer Park, playground and face painting, and the thrill of gem mining or panning for gold. It's a full day of adventures and fun for kids of all ages.  http://www.tweetsie.com

  1. We were lucky enough to ride #12 this past weekend at Tweetsie. We went up on Saturday and to our surprise, the historic engine came roaring around the bend. Awesome!
