Tuckasegee River Cleanup

June 29 Join us and help pick up trash in the River! WATR and members of the Nantahala Gorge Association will do a Tuckasegee River cleanup from Governors Island Bridge down to the horse arena. Rafting companies will supply rafts and guides for this public service adventure. Everyone should meet at 5:00 PM the Horse Arena located near the Bryson City Treatment Plant. From downtown Bryson City, go west past the entrance to Ingalls and take the first road to the right, then follow the gravel road.

Guides, rafts and volunteers will go up to bridge and go down river from there. Closed-toe shoes are required; be prepared to get wet. Other volunteers will do a roadside and river pickup along Rt. 284. Volunteers under 18 need either a guardian or a signed release available at the WATR office. It is helpful if all volunteers call and register in advance at the WATR office 488-8418 or info@WATRnc.org.

When the job is done, WATR will provide drinks and pizza at the picnic tables at the horse arena (donations are appreciated).
