Color still Showy in Asheville

Leaves in the higher elevations are gone until spring, but if you missed the "peak" there are still a few places to enjoy Mother Nature's colors. Asheville appears to be your best bet for mountain fall colors. The higher elevations along the Blue Ridge Parkway are past their peak, but down around the city, they are still quite showy. In the Asheville area, the oaks and hickories are peaking, with their yellows, reds and browns, along with red sourwoods, the occasional late maple, and deeply red black gums. In  the Cashiers-Highlands area, the leaves are pretty far-gone, particularly around Highlands. However, lower down, and in sheltered areas like the Tuckasegee Gorge between Cullowhee & Glenville, there are still scattered lovely trees - esp. hickories, russet-red oaks, scattered colorful maples, and sourwoods. In summary, there is will still be some good color this coming week, but not for much longer. So take a drive in the southern mountains this week, and soak in the last of the fall color for this season!

Sound Factory this Saturday Night

Nov 7, 8PM-11PM, Saluda Mountain Jamboree,  SALUDA  NC.  The Saturday night "Party With A Beat" - Sound Factory.  Everything from country music, beach music, oldies rock'n roll, top hits, southern rock and other great party music will fill the air for listening and dancing enjoyment. If you don't dance, that is OK. We are kind of a "Social Club". We have folks that just come each week to listen and have a good time!

Stick Boy Mayview Madness

Nov 7, 8AM, Blowing Rock School, Blowing Rock NC. Stick Boy Mayview Madness 5K & 1 Mile Fun Run The 10th Annual Mayview Madness 5K! This year, we have added a 1 Mile Fun Run before the 5K, so the whole family can be a part of the Stick Boy Mayview Madness race day. The 1 Mile Fun Run, beginning at 8:00 am, will start and finish at the Blowing Rock School. The 3.1-mile race will begin at 8:30 am at the Blowing Rock School, continue up to the Mayview area and terminate at the Memorial Park.
