July 6   27th Annual Christmas in July Festival   Visit historic downtown West Jefferson in beautiful Ashe County for the Annual Christmas in July Festival. Friday night  live music features the best in bluegrass, old time, gospel and country music from The Buck Haggard Band and Wolf Creek Band, street dance and food vendors from 6-10 PM.

Saturday brings the full festival to life with art and crafts, music acts featured all day long, civil war reenactments, food and fun, fun, fun from 9 AM - 7 PM. Christmas in July is a FREE event featuring the very best in traditional mountain music and handmade crafts from throughout the northwest mountains of North Carolina.

September 22   Art on the Mountain   Pottery, paintings, photography, quilting, knife making, leather crafts, barn quilts, jewelry, baskets, fiber, knitting, felting, spinning, rug hooking and more! Unique art for sale and Artist demonstrations. Door prize drawings each hour.

Annual River House Winefest this Saturday

July 21   Winefest  The Annual River House Winefest includes a Winefest wine glass, tastings from all the wineries, lots of music, and, of course, great River House food. The highlight of the festival will be wine samplings from nine North Carolina wineries: Biltmore, Brushy Mountain, Grassy Creek, Hanover Park, McRitchie, RagApple Lassie, RayLen and Round Peak. The musical lineup features: Tim and Debbie Yates of Acoustic Heritage (bluegrass), Clay Lundsford Jazz Band, Martha Bassett Band (sultry Southern swing) and The Ardmores (soft rock and blues).

Memorial Day Weekend Event: 2nd Annual West Jefferson Run

May 26   2nd Annual West Jefferson 5K / 10K Run  Enjoy Memorial Day weekend in historic West Jefferson. This is a chip timed race through the streets and hills surrounding beautiful West Jefferson located at the base of Mt. Jefferson in Ashe County. Bring the entire family for a Kids Dash before the race. Free child care will be provided for parents who participate in the race as well. Following the race there will be food & refreshments, free door prizes & live music.
