August 10 2nd Saturdays at the Mountain Gateway Museum and Heritage Center Features food, crafts, implements, storytelling and farm animals. Each 2nd Saturday is a hands-on heritage, family fun and arts event. Held on the grounds of the Museum.

Old Fort Mountain Gateway Museum Second Saturday Program
July 13 2nd Saturdays - Heart and Soul This program will feature the "Heart and Soul: Black Churches of McDowell County" exhibit. Jakia Probst, District Winner of the National Poetry Out Loud competition will have two performances over the course of the day.
The Addie's Chapel Choir will be performing at 1 PM. The event is held on the grounds of Mountain Gateway Museum. The 2nd Saturdays summer programs are sponsored statewide by the N.C. Department of Cultural Resources (www.ncculture.com) at all 37 of its history museums, art museums and historic sites.

Fall Leaf Season Event: Oktoberfest in Old Fort
October 5-7 Oktoberfest An annual festival featuring a variety of musicians, food and craft vendors, raffles and children's activities. There is also the amazing Duck Race. This is a Free event held at the Mountain Gateway Museum grounds, in downtown Old Fort NC.
