Earth Day 2010 Festival

April 24, 10AM - 6PM, Blue Ridge Community College, Hendersonville North Carolina. ECO (Environmental and Conservation Organization) celebrates the 40th Anniversary of Earth Day. The Earth Day festival will include an outdoor solar stage featuring local musicians, storytellers and performance artists, workshops on sustainable gardening and green energy, a water festival, art projects and a green Olympics for kids, a greenway hike, a student short film festival, recycling of household batteries, tree planting, and much more. Green Shop 'till You Drop to Benefit WNC Nature Center

April, Greenlife Grocery, 70 Merrimon Avenue, Asheville North Carolina. Greenlife will donate 5 cents to the Friends of the WNC Nature Center for every bag you bring in and use throughout the month of April. Greenlife Grocery is a full service natural foods grocery store and cafĂ©.

Colored Easter Eggs the Natural Way


March 28, 4PM-6PM, Sunny Points, Asheville North Carolina. Sunny Points gardener/ urban farmer, Laurie Newman White will do a hands on demonstration on using natural vegetable dyes for Easter Eggs. After the egg dying there will be eggs to hide and find for the little ones. Cathy Williams (from we still lay - http://www.ashevillecitychickens.com/) will be also be doing a short presentation on urban chicken farming.and find for the little ones. The event will be held on Sunny Points Patio from 4 to 6 pm on March 28. $5 fee.

12th Annual Cashier’s Designer Showhouse

One more week to visit Cashier's Designer Showhouse! Located at 1903 Highway 107 South, in Cashiers NC. This year's Showhouse brings many parts of the community together including 28 interior designers, landscapers and artists with the focus: "everyday green living".

This house will delight! If you visit the house, you are guaranteed to leave feeling inspired and wanting to rush home to start re-decorating!" Also visit the green market across the street where the designers will sell their wares at the store in the Zackary-Tolbert House. "I love finding new ways to re-purpose old items. One of my favorites to date is the beautiful chandelier in my store that was made from an old wine barrel-it's stunning!" Get your tickets now; the showhouse closes September 6!
