Flat Rock Cinema Hosts Manhattan Short FIlm Festival

The Flat Rock Cinema has been chosen to host the Manhattan Short Film Festival, the world's first global film festival during which over 100,000 film lovers in over 250 cities across six continents unite for one purpose: to view and vote on the 10 Finalists' Films in the 18th Annual Festival.

Showtimes: Sunday and Monday, September 27-28, 2015 at 3:00 PM and 7:00 PM. All shows are the 10 shorts finalists and all patrons will be given a ballot to cast their votes. YOU BE THE JUDGE.  Click HERE for more info and tickets.

Carl Sanburg Folk Music on Memorial Day in Flat Rock

May 27   Carl Sandburg Folk Music Festival  The grounds of the Carl Sandburg National Historic Site come alive with folk music which was an important part of Carl Sandburg's life along with his guitar playing and singing as well as his writing.

The 27th annual folk festival honors Carl Sandburg and his preservation of traditional folk music as found in his collection The American Songbag. The festival's performers each skillfully demonstrate the tradition of performing live music to tell stories while capturing the heritage of America through song.

This year's festival features The Shivers playing old time music, Charles Wood on banjo, Pat Corn and Buddy Davis performing bluegrass and folk music, Pop Ferguson and the Blues Revue, and Celtic musician Jamie Laval.

The Flat Rock Playhouse Presents Almost Main

September 13-23  Almost Maine at The Flat Rock Playhouse  On a cold, clear, moonless night in the middle of winter, all is not quite what it seems in the remote, mythical town of Almost, Maine. As the northern lights hover in the star-filled sky above, Almost's residents find themselves falling in and out of love in unexpected and often hilarious ways. Knees are bruised. Hearts are broken. But the bruises heal, and the hearts mend—almost—in this delightful midwinter night's dream. What a way to end the summer.

Flat Rock Playhouse Production of Guys and Dolls Opens This Week

July 25 - August 19  "Guys and Dolls" at the Flat Rock Playhouse   This is a classic Broadway musical fable set in a mythical New York City. The oddball romantic comedy, considered by many to be the perfect musical comedy, soars with the spirit of Broadway as it introduces a cast of vivid characters who have become legendary. 

Join Sky Masterson, Sarah Brown, Nathan Detroit and Adelaide, as they sing and dance their way through a timeless, groundbreaking score. Performances are Wed-Sat evenings, Wed, Thurs, Sat and Sun Matinees.
