Christmas Lights Walking Tour at The North Carolina Arboretum in Asheville NC

Continuing through January 2, 2016   Winter Lights at The North Carolina Arboretum    Winter Lights is a three-acre nightly walking tour of The North Carolina Arboretum's nationally-known gardens, including its Quilt Garden and Bonsai Exhibition Garden.

     Celebrate the holidays and discover the natural beauty of western North Carolina through lighted garden exhibits and landscapes. 

 
The 2015/2016 Winter Lights exhibit will also include animated displays that are programmed to illuminate to the sounds of musical holiday favorites.  

In addition, there will be several new displays and family-friendly activities that will be placed throughout the gardens. The Arboretum will stay open nightly from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM. Tickets may be purchase online or at the facility.

Asheville Rings in the Holiday Season this Saturday

November 22, 2014   Asheville Holiday Parade   The 68th Annual Asheville NC Holiday Parade, presented by Bojangles, rolls through downtown Asheville beginning at 11 AM. The parade starts on Biltmore Avenue near South Charlotte Street, makes a left on Patton Avenue, and ends at French Broad Avenue. Caleb Johnson, winner of 2014 American Idol and Asheville native will be grand marshal, in a float sponsored by Mission Health. Bojangles will have food and beverages available for sale along the parade route.
  

JingleFest   Beginning at 12 PM at the US Cellular Center (Civic Center), JingleFest kicks off with nonstop entertainment with performances from many of the groups that participated in the parade, inflatables and bouncy houses, kid’s activities, and of course, photos with Santa. A handmade holiday craft market will also be held in the concourse area, featuring local crafters and artisans. Parade Grand Marshal, Caleb Johnson, will stop by for a meet and greet with area fans and sign autographs.

National Gingerbread House Competition and Display begins this week at Asheville;s Grove Parks Inn

November 20 - January 2   The National Gingerbread House Competition and Display   Contestants from across the country bring their architectural masterpieces to The Grove Park Inn for display over the holidays. Delight in the imagination shown in these sugar-and-spice creations, strolling through the competition is a sure way to be swept up in the holiday spirit.

There is no admission charge to view the entries to the National Gingerbread House Competition. In addition to the gingerbread overload, see the beautiful holiday displays throughout and warm by the giant fireplaces in the grand lobby. Pick up a map in the lobby to find the various areas where the entries are displayed.
