The Purple Onion hosts Italian Wine Tasting

September 24,  6:30 PM  The Purple Onion, 16 Mine Street in Saluda NC -  Enjoy an Italian Wine Tasting and  the early fall on the patio of the Purple Onion for a sampling of seven wines from Italy and a delicious selection of Italian inspired appetizers and small plates. The focus for the evening will be wines from the Tommasi family, one of the most important quality producers in the Veneto.

The family run estate was founded in 1902 by Giacomo Tommasi in the village of Pedemonte, which lies in the heart of the Valpolicella Classico region. In addition to 6 Tommasi wines there will also be a tasting of Chianti from the Tuscan estate, Il Palagio owned by Sting and his producer, philanthropist wife Trudie Styler.

Bill O'Friel and Jeb Boyd from Tryon Distributing will be on hand to offer their expertise. The price for the tasting is $45 and includes a taste of seven wines and several hors d'oeuvres and small plates chosen to pair well with the wines.
