Dec 9 at 4PM. The Children's Christmas Project annual wrapping at Family Central comes to a close today.Distribution day will be Thursday, Dec. 10 from 9am-6pm. The Children's Christmas Project provides "Christmas" for children throughout the rural mountain communities of Ashe County. Each year underprivileged children and families have the opportunity to create a "wish list" of items that will assist in meeting their needs and desires. Supplies and donations appreciated. Now through Dec. 31. Sears Hometown Store will welcome the holiday season by sponsoring a food drive. to benefit Ashe Sharing Center and Lighthouse Ministries. Donation boxes are located at 203 E. First St. in West Jefferson. Customers are encouraged to drop off non-perishable canned and boxed food items as well as other needed products, such as diapers, paper towels, handy wipes, latex gloves, etc. during business hours.
