The National Park Foundation and American Express, the official volunteer partner of the National Park Service centennial celebration, launched SAVE THE PARK – a new mobile game where you can virtually volunteer in America's national parks.
Launched as part of the campaign to celebrate the 2016 National Park Service Centennial, SAVE THE PARK seeks to inspire and encourage a new generation of park lovers to take an active role in helping preserve these important natural and historic resources for future generations.
In SAVE THE PARK, you can experience how volunteers help conserve and preserve America's national parks. Play all four volunteer characters – Environment Champion, Wildlife Lover, Citizen Scientist and Culture Concierge – each representing a different type of volunteer. By successfully accomplishing volunteer tasks, you earn points to unlock additional levels across three park environments.
To highlight the critical role volunteers play as caretakers of our national parks, American Express partnered with Games for Change, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the creation and distribution of social impact games that serve humanitarian, social, and educational efforts. "To inspire and mobilize the next generation of volunteers we need a new set of tools," says Meredith Hahn, Vice President, Corporate Social Responsibility, American Express. "We believe SAVE THE PARK is a 'virtual' first step to converting game players into real-world volunteers."
To drive additional resources to help protect and preserve parks, each time SAVE THE PARK is downloaded on or before December 31, 2016, the American Express Foundation will donate $1 to NPF, up to $50,000.
Do you think you have what it takes to SAVE THE PARK? If yes, download, play, and share the game with your park-loving friends.
