Cherokee offers Something for Everyone this Week

Event:     Cherokee Summer Carnival  
An annual summer carnival, complete with rides, games and plenty of your favorite carnival foods. This five day event also features local food vendors and arts and crafts.  


Date:      June 8-10
Event:     "Cruise the Smokies" Spring Rod Run  
500 of the nation’s hottest looking classic cars gather to cruise the most scenic drive in North Carolina. More than 3,000 car enthusiasts will turn out for the Southeast’s premiere Rod Run at the Acquoni Expo Center. Gates will be open from 9 AM to 5 PM on Friday and Saturday; 9 AM to noon on Sunday.

Event:     Cherokee Voices Festival  
Celebrate thousands of years of tradition in the southern Appalachians with Cherokee people from the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, North Carolina’s only federally recognized tribe. Experience traditional music and dance, gospel singing, Cherokee flute playing and storytelling. Talk with Cherokee people in living history encampments and see demonstrations of basketmaking, pottery, carving, beadwork, mask making, blowgun making and more. Traditional food will be available. A unique opportunity to meet and talk with Cherokee elders in their home community.
