The 4th of July Weekend is busy at Brevard Music Center: Saturday, July 2, 7:30 PM - Appalachian Spring; Sunday, July 3, 2:00 PM - Pendergrast Family Patriotic Pops. Poppies Market & Cafe, the exclusive guest artist caterer for our 2011 season, will be offering a special patriotic cuisine for the program this Sunday, July 3 at 2:00 PM. Bring the whole family and picnic on a blanket on the lawn, or at one of the many picnic tables located throughout the auditorium area. You can also come empty-handed and purchase lunch on site beginning at 11:30 AM: Cheeseburger: $6.00 - Hot Dog (Boarshead): $3.00 - Bratwurst: $6.00 - Turkey Wrap: $6.00 - Veggie Wrap: $6.00 - Watermelon Cup: $2.00 - Sweet Tea and Lemonade: $2.00 - All plates come with chips.
The Transylvania Symphonic and the Brevard Community Bands will be led by conductors Kraig Alan Williams and Jamie Hafner, for an afternoon of patriotic pomp and circumstance at Whittington-Pfohl Auditorium.
In Thomas Hall at 1:00 PM and continuing through intermission and after the performance, there will be an exhibit of the Transylvania County history of bands. There will also be some antique instruments on display.
Tickets for the Pendergrast Family Patriotic Pops are $25, $30 and $35, and $20 on the lawn. Children and teenagers 17 and under may enjoy the performance on the lawn for free, if accompanied by a paying adult. (Tickets are still required.)
