November is American Indian Heritage Month in NC
Gov. Bev Perdue has proclaimed November 2010 as American Indian Heritage Month. “Honoring the Legacy of Our Warriors” is the theme for American Indian Heritage Month 2010 in North Carolina and is observed as a means to encourage all citizens to learn about and appreciate the historic and contemporary contributions of American Indians in North Carolina. The governor urged the citizens of – and, indirectly, travelers to – North Carolina to recognize and celebrate the many achievements and contributions made by the native inhabitants of the state. The 15th Annual American Indian Heritage Celebration is Nov. 20 at the N.C. Museum of Art in Raleigh.
