I-40 Rock Slide Closure - Goodbye and Good Riddance!

The N.C. Dept. of Transportation announced it will reopen the section of I-40 next Tuesday which has been closed for six months following a massive rock slide. The closure has meant fewer customers for businesses along the interstate. Prior to the closure nearly 20,000 vehicles a day had used the affected stretch of interstate. About a mile of the westbound side will be closed through the summer while crews repair other areas of loose rock.
