Each year, since 1975, the OVTA has held an annual re-enactment march to commemorate the Campaign to the Battle of Kings Mountain. In the early years of the Commemorative March, the OVTA walked every step of the 228 miles of the trail from Abingdon, VA to Kings Mountain, SC. As time has passed and as development and traffic has restricted walking, today's walk includes that portion of the trail that is historically significant and safe for participants. Programs are given to schools and community groups along the trail to educate people about the significance of the Overmountain Victory National Historic Trail and the contribution the Overmountain Men made in winning America’s Independence.

Flutist
Dilshad Posnock is originally from Bombay, India. She has appeared as a
soloist and chamber musician in concerts and festivals across the
United States, England, Puerto Rico and India. She has also been
featured on BBC TV and BBC World Service Radio. Ms. Posnock has
performance degrees from the Royal College of Music, London, and
Carnegie Mellon University. While in Pittsburgh, she performed regularly
with ensembles including the Pittsburgh Symphony, the Pittsburgh Ballet
and Pittsburgh Opera. Ms. Posnock served as Artist Lecturer in Flute,
and Director of the Artist Diploma Program at the Carnegie Mellon School
of Music. In addition to her role as Assistant Director of the Jeanne
Baxtresser International Master Class, she has also worked on
publication projects with world renowned flutists, Jeanne Baxtresser and
Sir James Galway. Now based in Brevard, NC, Ms. Posnock performs with
the Asheville Choral Society and has appeared as Guest Principal Flute
with the Asheville Symphony Orchestra.
Eric
Ohlsson is the Charles O. DeLaney Professor of Music in Oboe at the
Florida State University, and was previously Assistant Professor of Oboe
and Assistant Director of the School of Music at the University of
South Carolina. His orchestral roles have have included principal
positions with the Columbus Symphony and the Naples Philharmonic, in
addition to serving as guest principal with the Florida Orchestra and
the Charlotte Symphony. Currently, Mr. Ohlsson holds the positions of
Principal Oboe of the Palm Beach Opera Orchestra and the Tallahassee
Symphony. He was appointed to the Artist Faculty of the Brevard Music
Center as principal oboist of the BMC Orchestra in 1994. As a soloist
and chamber musician, Ohlsson has performed throughout the US and in
Europe, South America, and Canada. His teachers include John Mack,
William Baker, James Caldwell, Ben Wright, and Travis Cox.
Deloise
Chagas Lima, collaborative pianist, was born in Curitiba, Parana,
Brazil. She earned her Bachelor's Degree in Piano, Organ, and Music
Education at the School of Music and Fine Arts of Parana, where she
received the First Prize Award of her graduation class. Following her
graduation she moved to England where she completed a Performance
Certificate in piano from Trinity College of Music. Dr. Lima is also an
Associate of the Royal College of Music in organ performance. She
received her Master of Music degree in piano performance and Literature
at the University of Notre Dame, and the Doctor of Music degree in Piano
Accompanying from the Florida State University.
